The Give & Get Edit | Building a Slow Shelf 🍂

This season, we’re giving thanks for the stories that stay:

  • the ones that linger

  • shift our thinking

  • connect us to each other

In a culture of speed and “to be read (TBR)” lists, what if we slowed down? What if we built a slow shelf — made of books that shape us, stories we’re ready to share, and copies that deserve a second life in someone else’s hands?

The books that have stayed with us & why…

“Credo” starting on page one tells you much of what you need to know – sharing, playing fair, and of course, “no matter how old you are–when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.” The lessons here resonate and show the universality in our humanity.

In this quick read, we are invited to imagine an economy rooted in reciprocity — one where gifts are shared freely, relationships are central, and value is measured in care, not profit. The running theme is: “all flourishing is mutual.”

This book was born out of one hundred or six years of Saturdays filled with conversation, connection, and stories. Stella’s life prior to World War II (WWII) is one of ordinary and extraordinary moments that make for tender wisdom and brings to light a piece of history worth knowing.

Anna Karenina* by Leo Tolstoy

A lengthy read but a classic you should not miss! Tolstoy paints his characters with so much depth and detail, giving each of them and its story a completeness that makes this book stand out.

The Choice: Embrace the Possible* by Dr. Edith Eva Eder

The first part of this book is heavy but the second half is wildly uplifting. Ultimately, each of us has a choice to live fully and embrace our own strengths and flaws. It’s a perspective-shifting read!

The title of this non-fiction book is almost deceptive. Yes, it tells stories of ordinary people who became extraordinary investors, but the lessons in this book are about life and being authentic and true to yourself. It will surprise you!

At CoSee, we believe every book has more than one chapter — the one we read, and the one we pay forward.

2nd Shout Out | CoSee Corner | Join Us 🙏

CoSee is launching a new way for local readers to connect — starting with the books they already love and the stories they’ve been waiting to find. We’re calling it CoSee Corner.

We’re kicking things off with a small digital pilot in January 2026, designed to bring together book lovers across the tri-state area. We’re inviting folks to showcase their favorite reads and connect with others in their area. This is the first in a series of experiments that will evolve how readers:

  • Share,

  • Discover, and

  • Engage

with books in their communities.

Each phase builds toward something bigger — and after every pilot, we’ll host an IRL community event to bring the experience to life.

We’re looking for 50+ tri-state area readers to help shape this journey.

If you’re curious, passionate about books, and excited to be part of something new, we’d love to have you.

🖋️ Sign up now to join the first wave + pass it along to someone or someones else! We promise, it won’t take more than 2 minutes to fill out.
