Newsletter Issue 1 - August 9th, 2025

Welcome to the first edition of The CoSee Edit brought to you by Michelle + Sonia! CoSee is an eco-minded, values-led community fostering unexpected and new relationships through sustainable living. We are building something unique – digital and physical spaces and events where people can pause, share ideas, and support what matters.

We’re so glad you’re here — whether you found us at an event, joined our survey, or just wandered in through curiosity / one of our previous newsletters. However you arrived, you’re now part of a growing, intentional community committed to intentional moments, fulfilling conversations, and joyful connection. We are excited to reach your inbox and hope that you will keep us there and help us grow.

And just like that first page of a great book… We're just getting started.

Stick with us. We’ll surprise you.

Ready? Here we go! 🚀

Pairings 📚 + ☕

We believe in the simple joys of life—like pairing a can’t-put-it-down read with your favorite beverage, all while relaxing in your favorite chair. Together, these pleasures release far more happy hormones than any of them would alone.

It's not magic—it's how our brains work. Multiple sources of mild pleasure activate different reward pathways simultaneously. The focus required for reading, the sensory satisfaction of your drink, the physical comfort of your setup—they compound rather than compete. 🤝

😇 The small details matter more than you might think.

🥳 Try it out yourself next time you’re looking for a bit of cheer!

Want to know our favorite pairings? Here you go!

Michelle:

  • 📖 Book: Pictures of You by Emma Grey (my latest, captivating read!)

  • 🍵 Beverage Pairing: Tay Tea, Berber (looseleaf wild Moroccan mint blended with Chinese green tea)

  • 🪑 Location: Boucle chair next to the window with a sunny view

Sonia:

  • 📖 Book: The Power of Now by Ekhardt Tolle

  • 🍵 Beverage Pairing: A hot cup of organic chamomile, loose-leaf tea

  • 🪑 Location: Tucked into a cosy chair by my apartment window

A quote to carry with you 💭

All happy families resemble one another, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.

~ Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

Did You Know? | Coffee Edition ☕

Coffee beans aren't actually beans at all—they're seeds from the fruit of coffee plants, which are bright red cherries. Each cherry typically contains two seeds (what we call beans). They face each other, like you and I in a conversation or you and your computer screen right now.

Once the beans are picked, they’re fermented, dried, roasted, and brewed to become the rich, nuanced drink you love.

That’s why coffee can taste like berries, chocolate, citrus, or nuts—it’s fruit in disguise.

All different genres, all different interests. What speaks to you?

Amazing table-scapes from The Art of Fashion and Food (yes, strawberries, watermelon, and tomatoes were taken home!)

Last, but certainly not least, Preface Coffee provided incredible coffee for affogatos. We can’t wait to learn more from Preface founder and roaster, Jeremy!
