Where do your books end up? | Digital Edition 📚

We’ve been thinking a lot about the life cycle of a book — not just what it teaches us, but where it goes after we’ve turned the last page. In a world of intentional living, even our books have journeys.

We love that we have digital options for our beloved books such as the Kindle products. But how do you sustainably dispose of these devices when they become old, unusable, or you want an update? Here are some ways to do it.

  • Protect your privacy - start by deregistering your Kindle through your Amazon account. Look for the Devices tab under your account settings. Next, perform a factory reset on the device itself to erase all personal data.

  • Dispose mindfully - use Amazon’s trade-in program if your device is eligible and get a gift card in return OR get a free shipping label from Amazon’s recycling site and send your old Kindle for recycling.

Whichever option you choose, please don’t put it in the trash. The batteries contain hazardous material which is bad for the environment and unsafe for the people who live around landfills where your regular trash ultimately ends up.

Your favorite reads deserve better than that.
